Letter from the President
One of the greatest strengths of the credit union is our volunteer board of members that provides governance and guidance to our staff. These individuals donate their time and insights to steer the credit union at the 35,000-foot level.
Our board meets at least once a month. They review the credit union’s financials, make some of the trickier credit decisions and, perhaps most importantly, help set the long-term strategy of our organization.
Our board has been an active group since our founding in 1964 – and in that whole time it has been made up of regular members who have a dedication to our mission of supporting financial stability and opportunities for wealth building for members of the medical community. They are dedicated to the principal that cooperative banking is a great fit for those who work in healthcare.
We currently have an opening on our board, and so I’m reaching out to our membership to see if anyone might be interested in taking on this role. The rewards aren’t great – a free meal once a month – but that of course is not what it’s about. It’s about the results. It’s about knowing that you helped set up a program that got a young nurse her first car or made sure that we could continue to provide great rates that help a retired nurse maintain his savings. It’s about helping us maintain the balance between technological conveniences and great member services. Like the old credit union motto says, it’s about people helping people. Banking may seem boring – but when you think about what a credit union actually does and HOW it does it . . . well, it starts to become a little more interesting.
